N

Posted by indya rocksss

N is the great kind of platformer that makes you feel almost invincible. There's nothing like the sensation of jumping through the air, dodging a deadly laser, and sliding down a wall to reach the end of a level. You'd just have to see how your character moves to understand why the game play rules.
Your character - a weird ninja-type guy who prefers avoidance instead of destroying everything in sight - moves swiftly from platform to platform (or wall to wall) with perfection. However, the real coolness comes when your character dies. Then, you'll get to witness the excellent ragdoll physics. The quality of the graphics and physics is great.
But enough about the physics, graphics, and overall coolness. The game play is what matters in any game, and N's game play is excellent. Sliding down walls (or jumping up them), gliding from platform to platform, trying desperately not to die... it's all very fun to do. However, the game really picks up in the later levels, where there are mines, lasers, and sentry robots abound. These levels may take you many tries to beat, but they'll still remain fun, if a bit frustrating. There's no shortage of these levels, either. With 300 unique levels, all designed very well, you'll be playing this game for a while.
There's no music and barely any sound, but the game really doesn't need any. There is a nice save system added in the new version, too, replacing the annoying password system of the last version.
The bottom line of this game: don't expect to kill things (as you would in other ninja games), but expect to have a good time jumping around, trying to flip the switches and collect the coins, avoiding enemies and trying not to get killed.

Liero

9.2
A clone\sequel of the very popular Liero violent worms game
[Punisher]
10.0
This Liero is the best of all the clones, even better than the original game. It has better graphics, absolutely no bugs, better weapons and much more blood and gore! More blood and gore means more FUN!
It is even more fun because there is an Internet and a LAN game option, allowing you to compete against people in the other parts of the world. From the official site you can download more levels, skins and MODS! This time there are even better levels so you can play in different places.
This time in the character creation mode, not only you can change their color but also their appearance - a skin, allowing you to design the way your character looks in battle. You can also download more skins from the official site.
The MODS! Now this is where this game's at! With MODS you can download SUPER weapons! Weapons that are out of this world! The weapons here range from hand gun to nuclear & atomic bombs to alien weapons! Never have I felt the true feeling of violence and blasting your opponent since Madness Interactive and Stick Soldiers.
There are 3 game modes you can choose from and each will make your blood boil! I don't understand why the reviewer here gave such a cheap score. Don't take it personally but this game is XTREME!

Lemming Ball Z

A crazy fusion between Lemmings and DragonBall Z
[SinCrest]
10.0

I found Lemming Ball Z by chance. It sounded pretty stupid, but when I played it, it turned out to be one of the best fighting games I've played on my computer!

GAMEPLAY: The game ran and played very well. The characters looked jerky sometimes when flying, but that's about my only gripe. The controls were nice and simple, but there were quite a few attacks to be pulled off. Fighting was well done, and it feels really satisfying to watch bathe your opponent in blood after an energy attack. There's also online fighting, which I haven't tried, but what I'm really looking forward to is 2p fighting. You can fight a friend on the same keyboard!

GRAPHICS/SOUND: The graphics were good, but the effects were great! The particle effects, energy shields, all of those looked awesome. The graphics is very similar to that of Liero and it's clones. The sound effects were a bit boring, but they did give a little "umph" and impact to the hits. There was absolutely no music at all, but I'm ok with that, all the explosion sounds will keep people busy.

LBZ is definitely one of the best freeware games out there. I recommend you get it.

A 'blow everything up' game, similar to worms
9.0

At first glance you can not miss Liero's striking resemblance to the classic worms (That's a good thing). You play a worm, who is hell bent on destroying other worms, sound familiar?

Liero has mode some huge improvements over worms: First of all Liero real time, no more waiting for your opponent to take their turn. Secondly you play as a single worm instead of a small army of the slimy creatures and finally the weapons are way cooler, all the basics and a lot more.

Liero is a very popular game and has reached cult status in many countries. Download and see for yourself why Liero is one of the most popular freeware games on the net.

The sequal to stick soldiers
10.0
Hello,
This game is a great shooter, i would reccomend this game to any Call Of Duty fan, or Halo fan. This game has no story line, your just there using your M4, or your shotgun shooting people. You can chose FFA (Free for all), which means you shoot everyone, or you can chose teams. Red Vs. Blue, and you can pick how many players are there! Before doing this, go to options and chose your screen name. This game is very fun, and some what funny because if you shoot some one and they die they fall apart! This game i would highly reccomend. Its not that much space, and only takes 1-3 minutes time to download, so try it, you'll love it!
Sincerely,
Zack

Silver knights got me addicted since I first heard of it and played.
By far, no other freeware game compares. The ability of Teshima in creating the game is nothing short of incredible. The attacks are all in working order, with updates (currently not, but soon.....) and 3 types of mech attacks.
Each mech unique with its own style definitely leaves much room for fun. With multiple modes, like kill the leader and melee only, the fun can last a long time. Melee is one of the best parts of the game, period... although bugs are in it, they are usually fixed in the next version, and usually aren't too common, or enough to ruin the game.
Silver Knights is one of the best games I play, period. Especially with network mode.

Wolfenstein Enemy Territory

Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is a Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter which sports some of the best graphics for a freeware first person shooter.
[[MFG]Xenome]
10.0
There are many scenarios you can face in Return to Castel Wolfenstein Enemy Territory. There are so many things to discover and so many possibilities to get your opponent down. This World War two shooter is one of the best games I have ever seen.
If you look at the surrounding conditions they have made, you will be astonished. At first Enemy Territory should be an add-on to the allready exsisting Return to Castel Wolfenstein but at the developers heared the office where they were working in should be closed they decided to release it as a stand alone version with only a multiplayer mode.
Even if the first promised singleplayer mode is missing now the game is one of the best games I have ever played of the Second World War scenario.
The best thing about the game is that you have a ranking system. The more experience you will collect during battles the more health you get or the better you can aim. For example if you shoot many peaople with the MG you get experience on Light weapons.
If you have reached the maximum of four stars you get dual pistols. As a medic for example if you heal many people and revive them you get experience on First Aid. At Level four you can give yourself some adrenalin which lets you run faster. There are also some other classes. There you have the field-op who can provide artillery fire and an air attack. The engineer who repairs Tank, Trunks and sets up barriers and mines. The covert-op who uses a silenced sniper rifle and a silenced pistol. At last you can use the normal soldier who is fighting with an MG-42, Flamethrower and some other nice weapons.
The more experience you get in one Level the higher is your ranking. With every Level you climb up you get promoted until you have reached the rank of the General. As a General you have all experience points collected, which means that you have reached in every class the maximum. That means that you are a four star Medic, Engeneer, Field-Op, Covert-Op, Soldier (Heavy-Weapons), Battle sense (which gives you more health) and light weapons.
This game is for me the game of the year and so I can just say to everyone who still hasn't got the game, you have to download this game, it is really adictive.

Soldat

At the moment Soldat is the most popular online game around
10.0
What is Soldat? Well, why spend 10 minutes writing long paragraphs explaining how I feel about this game, when I could sum it up in one word?
If I had to choose, the word would be "AWESOME".
...
Okay, fine, I'll write a long review anyway.
Soldat is a fast-paced 2D shooter where you can play online or offline. Unlike most games, the AI in this game is actually quite skilled, but online play is still the tops when it comes to playing this game. The game bears the classic WASD controls I've grown to love, and operates very smoothly. There are 6 game types are available. Such as: Deathmatch, Teammatch, Pointmatch, Rambomatch, Capture The Flag and Infiltration [One Way CTF] and tons of weapons, like the Desert Eagle, AK74, Spas 12, Ruger, M79, Barret, and even a minigun, plus tons of others. There are primary weapons and secondary weapons, leaving plenty of options and combinations to try out until you find the perfect match. You can spar with the AI or test your skills online. You can also register to open more options, but registering is a luxury - not really necessary, but may enhance gameplay for some. You can also customize your character. You can do simple things like changing his name, to a bit more excessive things, like whether or not he has dog tags, or has a Mohawk.
The sound effects in this game are very good - they're crisp, clear, and every weapon has a distinct sound, from the buzzing of a chainsaw to the boom, chik-chik of a shotgun. The yells and sounds of blood of a fallen enemy splattering against the wall leaves you with a triumphant feeling, only to be interrupted by a playing coming behind you, and you suffer the same fate in an instant.
The graphics are well-detailed and the animation of characters jumping and rolling around is smooth, and overall very good, but nothing visually stunning. For such a small file size, this game's graphics sure pack a punch. Like I said, registering gives some enhancements, and the extra options for player looks and interfaces are a good example of that.
As soon as you start playing Soldat, you either like it or don't. Chances are, you'll love this game, because it's very good, as the score, as well as the other user reviews, clearly exemplify. Soldat is a fun, yet simple, gaming delicacy, and with such a file size as only 12 MB, what have you got to lose? Other than hours a day, playing this cruelly addictive game!
10/10
I leave you with these three words: DOWNLOAD SOLDAT NOW!!!

Little Fighter 2

It’s hard to explain how great this game is
[Coci]
10.0
I wrote a review for Little Fighter 2 (LF2) three years ago saying its easily the best freeware game in town. Three years later, I stand by those words. The Wong Brothers crafted a masterpiece that's not only perfect, but downright addicting. In honor of this games sheer brilliance, I'm gonna re-review it, but in greater detail...
Presentation:
OK, I always begin by talking about the presentation of a game, because its the first thing that you notice, and some times even decides if you even want to play the game at all. While LF2's presentation isn't the greatest you might have seen in a freeware game, because there's no opening, well, no story for that matter. Despite that, the menu layout is straight forward and easy to navigate. It gives you the impression that you are indeed playing an arcade style game. With that said, the presentation is simple, because that's all it needs to be.
Graphics:
Next up, it's what a lot of people judge a game by, its graphics. Rest assured, this game will not disappoint. The whole game is based on a collection of sprites, but it's the number of sprites, and its detail that make the graphics awesome. There's no fancy 3D special effects here, my friend, just good ol' sprites. Everything you do has its own sprite, from drinking a bottle of moo moo juice (milk) to executing a fire ball attack. I'm talking everything is detailed, to the point where blood is shown on your chin when your life is low (OK, I know that's OUT OF THIS WORLD material, but it was nice for the Wong brothers to do that). But you may ask "Coci, what if I don't like the sprites?" well my friend, make it yourself. No seriously, make it yourself. The game supports making your own sprites, and encourages you to make your own backgrounds. If you know DCing (Data Changing) and know how to sprite, or at least know people that can do all this, you can make your own characters along with his or her own set of moves.
Sound:
Remember how I said that the graphics are detailed? Well, so is the sound. Every collision type, no matter it be an ice column striking a wooden box , there's a sound for it. There's even sound effects for the characters foot steps for crying out loud. Sadly, there's no music, but that really doesn't matter. Just boot up the trusty iTunes, and sing away, sing away, my friend. Like the graphics, the sounds are customizable too.
Gameplay:
Here's the meat of the game. Where the game shines with the light of ten suns. When you play LF2, you realize something, the battle system is amazingly responsive and intuitive. Wanna shoot a fire ball? Block, Forward, Attack. Wanna summon your ice sword? Block, Down, Attack. It's easy to input your attack combination, because the system is flexible enough to read your commands no matter how slow or fast you input them, just as long as you do them right. This is a game that's easily picked up, hard to master, and even harder to put down. Even after you beat Stage Mode in the Crazy Difficulty (yea, I want to see you TRY to do that...no seriously, go ahead) you can take the game online. It's simple to connect to a friend, just type in their IP (and make sure firewalls are off) while their waiting, and connect. Just don't try to play somebody who say lives, in say, I dunno Mexico, when you live in the US, because you will most likely experience lag. Its easily to get hooked in trying to improve your skill and learning new combos and techniques, that you may find yourself role-playing the master of LF2 with your friends on MSN. Tired of the same old LF2 attacks and such? Well, there's PLENTY of MODs on the internet that you can use to enhance, or completely change your LF2 experience. Once you play this, there's probably no way out. Dozens of characters to choose from, so little time... in the day time...
What can I say except for "Perfection"... woah man, Deja vu...

Cave Story

Posted by indya rocksss

reviews

A superb game that has elements of platform, shoot 'em up, adventure and rpg all mixed into one perfect little package.
[Yankee Boy]
10.0
In all honesty, Cave Story is by far the greatest freeware game that I have ever personally played. It beautifully combines all of the best features of an RPG, a shoot 'em up, adventure, and arcade together in a swirl of perfection.
The basic plot is a bit hard to understand at first, as it is in all truly good adventure/RPG games, but bit-by-bit, the storyline is pieced together. All in all, the plot is so charmingly addictive that once you start playing, you can't get yourself to stop.
The graphics may not be up to the level of some freeware games, but with the consideration that it is a mere 0.99 megabytes to download, they are stunningly good. The keys never mess up, and the game runs smoothly for the entire time that you are playing, adding onto the perfection of the game.
What you do in Cave Story is basically gather weapons as you move along in the game, sometimes by just finding them laying around, sometimes having to work for them. You can raise the power of your weapons by killing enemies, and raising their levels. Each weapon has a level of its own, so the more monsters you kill, the higher your level goes, and the higher your level goes, the more powerful your weapons are.
I'll end by saying simply that this game is more than worth your time, and it would be a crime against humanity not to download it. If you don't believe me, then download it and find out. I guarantee that you'll find it truly irresistible.
